After a great first day in Towson just outside of Baltimore on Friday, the #CAAHoops On Campus team has made its way to the sparkling new SECU arena to take in matchup between the Towson Tigers and Drexel Dragons. In addition to a marquee matchup in the league, televised on NBCSports Network at 4:30p.m. it is also part of the nationwide Autism Awareness Day in college basketball, spearheaded by Towson Head Coach Pat Skerry and Marshall Head Coach Tom Herrion. Coach Skerry’s son, Owen, has autism and Coach has reached out to 80 other coaches across the nation to wear the Autism Speaks blue puzzle piece. After watching the Dragons and Tigers on NBCSN be sure to look for coaches across the nation wearing the pin, including Jim Boeheim of Syracuse and Bill Self of Kansas. You can use the hashtag #AutismHoops all day to follow the effort.
The CAA.TV staff will be visiting all nine campuses over the next two months to provide in-depth features, post-game press conferences, highlights and much more.
You can follow our coverage of today’s game at the SECU in a number of ways. We’ll post a few notes here on the blog in addition to postgame highlights and postgame comments after the game. We’ll use the @CAABasketball timeline on Twitter to provide updates from around the league. You can also follow the #CAAHoops hashtag as we know several of fans and media throughout the league will provide superb commentary. Lastly don’t forget to take a look at both our Facebook page and Instagram feed for inside looks at the Northeastern/Delaware contest.
Be sure to watch for our features with the the Tigers next week. We sat down with Coach Skerry about his effort to spread Autism Awarenss. We also ran a “Full Court Press” on Towson women’s hooper Nyree Williams and found out which Golden Girl she identifies with.
