#CAAHoops On Campus: UNCW – Feb. 22

Feb 22, 2014, 6:16 PM EDT

Hofstra's Moussa Kone

After finishing up our interviews for the Full Court Press and In Focus features, the crew is ready for some #CAAHoops action. We are in the Port City of Wilmington, NC for the Seahawks homecoming tilt with the Cougars of Charleston. Today we will see who is the “Toast of the Coast” (trademark pending on this rivalry nickname) as the teams from two of the CAA’s most picturesque towns hit the hardcourt.

The CAA.TV staff will be visiting all nine campuses over the next two months to provide in-depth features, post-game press conferences, highlights and much more.

You can follow our coverage of today’s game at the Trask  in a number of ways. We’ll post a few notes here on the blog in addition to postgame highlights and postgame comments after the game. We’ll use the @CAABasketball timeline on Twitter to provide updates from around the league. You can also follow the #CAAHoops hashtag as we know several of fans and media throughout the league will provide superb commentary. Lastly, don’t forget to take a look at both our Facebook page and Instagram feed for inside looks at the UNCW/CofC contest.

Be sure to watch for our features with the ‘Hawks next week (Tuesday and Wednesday).

Follow along below for a live blog and enjoy some #CAAHoops action.

Live Blog:

Second Overtime: Only a bit more scoring in this frame but we came out with a winner. UNCW rides a late 3 by Ben Eblen to win things. Epic highlights and post game presser to follow.

Overtime: Neither team scored in the first session of OT. Both teams running on adrenaline. The atmosphere hasn’t dropped a bit.

End of Game: In an absolutely fantastic finish UNCW tied things up and the teams went back and forth until UNCW ties it up with a Shane Reybold tip in at the buzzer.

2nd Half Under 4:00 Media Timeout: The College leads by 5. UNCW has been inching their way back in but have been missing at the line.

2nd Half Under 8:00 Media Timeout: Shane Reybold was all over the place in the last few minutes, scoring, making defensive plays but the Cougars remain up 10 44-34.

2nd Half Under 12:00 Media Timeout: We were distracted by a great kiss cam but some notes from the under 12. CofC has 6 steals while UNCW has  5 blocks. The Cougs lead 34-28, the boys in teal are a stop or big bucket away from making this one real interesting.

2nd Half Under 16:00 Media Timeout: The Seahawks are all over the ground, in the air, everything. They know hustle plays will keep them in this game and its working so far, just down 6, 27-21. Hall has 8 for the Cougs. Reybold 7 for the ‘Hawks.

Halftime Notes: College of Charleston has shot 33% from the field…UNCW at 31%…The College has 8 points off turn overs, while UNCW has 0. UNCW leads bench scoring 8-3.

Halftime: The Cougars lead the Seahawks 23-18. Notes to follow.

Under 4:00 Media Timeout: When this place gets loud, it gets LOUD. It is getting there now as the hosts have gone on a 6-2 run to make the score 18-16.  Hall leads all scorers with 6. Both teams around 30% shooting.

Under 8:00 Media Timeout: The teams are tied in rebounds at 13, but the Cougars lead 16-10 on the scoreboard. They have 4 points off turnovers to the ‘Hawks 0.

Under 12:00 Media Timeout: It’s 8-6 as defense has taken over. Baru leads all scorers with just 4. UNCW has 3 blocks, all spectacular, while CofC has 1. UNCW has turned it over 4 times.

Under 16:00 Media Timeout: Back and forth affair as the Cougards lead 6-4 over the host Seahawks. Cedrick Williams took us to break with a big block on Baru.
