Incoming Hofstra University freshman Eliel Gonzalez has been chosen as a participant in Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Americas 2013 program, which incorporates global basketball development and social responsibility, the school announced on Thursday. Gonzalez will join a select group of players, who were chosen by the International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA), the NBA and other participating basketball federations, for an event at CENARD in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from July 25-28. Players were chosen based off basketball skills, leadership abilities and a dedication to the game of basketball.

Former CAA men’s basketball standouts Brett Blizzard of UNCW and Frank Elegar of Drexel will participate in the Basketball Alumni Legends League (The-Ball) showcase event for team North Carolina and Philadelphia, respectively, with numerous other collegiate alumni. Team North Carolina squares off against team Washington, D.C., (the D.C. Dobermans) Aug. 1 at George Washington’s Charles E. Smith Center, with team Philly taking the court two days later on Aug. 5 — also versus D.C.
